Networking Event

 

The Career Development Center and the College of Education are proud to present the Educators Expo, the annual recruiting and networking event for teacher candidates.  The event will take place on Friday, April 15, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, at the McChesney Student Activity Center. It is open to all education majors who graduated in December 2021 or who will be graduating in May 2022 and who will be teacher certified by Fall 2022.

 

 

Meet the Reps

 

The Educators Expo will feature city, county and private school systems from around the State of Alabama and in the region. The event will provide students the opportunity to meet representatives from the various school systems, learn more about careers in the teaching field, and discuss employment opportunities. We currently have several school systems registered, and may have several more sign up as we get closer to the event. The currently registered school systems are as follows:

Alexander City Schools
Auburn City Schools
Hoover City Schools
Jefferson County Schools
Pell City Schools
Randolph County Schools
Shelby County Schools
Talladega County Schools
Trussville City Schools
Tuscaloosa City Schools
Tuscaloosa County Schools

Students are invited to participate in this important networking event and to register as soon as possible. Students are also asked to submit their resumes for review by the participating school system representatives. Submission of your registration and resume are due by Friday, March 25.

All students’ resumes will be included in the UM Teacher Candidate Resume Book that will be distributed to the top city and county school systems throughout the state. Any student submitting his or her resume by Friday, March 25 will have his or her resume included in the resume book.

Candidate Preparation

 

In advance of this event, and in preparation for your entry into the job market, the Career Development Center is offering resources to assist you with your job market strategies, interview skills, and resume writing.

Before submitting your resume, be sure to use these materials to ensure your resume looks professional. Your resume will be featured in the Teacher Candidate Resume Book and will be viewed by various superintendents and principals throughout the education community. We strongly encourage you to write a resume that will effectively promote you.
