Recycled Clothing Items for Office and Interviews

The University of Montevallo Career Development Center is pleased to offer our Career Closet service to all UM students in need of professional clothing for networking events, office settings, and job interviews.

We are grateful to the generosity of our alumni, business associates, and community partners for their support of this important program and for their clothing donations.

We seek to offer clothing that is appropriate for business dress and business casual situations, in appropriate colors, fabrics and designs. We seek to offer clothing in an assortment of sizes, in male, female, and neutral styles.

Our Career Closet service offers the following items (and accepts donations of the same):

We do not need donations of under garments, swim wear, athletic wear, athletic shoes, socks, hosiery, hats, caps, briefcases, bags, totes, eyeglasses, cosmetics, and jewelry items (bracelets, earrings, necklaces).

For Students

Professional activity, such as a networking event, a career fair, an office visit, or a job interview, require that participants wear clothing that is in keeping with proper protocol. If you have an upcoming professional event and are in need of appropriate attire, please contact the UM Career Development Center. If you find you are having difficulty meeting the dress code or dressing properly for the occasion, we are happy to provide assistance. There is no fee and no questions asked.

Simply contact us by telephone or e-mail to arrange for a meeting time. One of our counselors will escort you to the Career Development Center Annex where our Career Closet facility is located.  You may select whatever items you need.  A fitting room and mirrors are available.  Assistance and advice will be provided.

For Donors

We are happy to receive your clothing donations in-person and on-site.  We accept new and used clothing items that are clean and in good condition. You may bring your donations to the Career Development Center main office in Farmer Hall, on the second floor.  Please call in advance at 205-665-6262.  Donation receipt available.  Thank you!
